Saint Juan Diego

Juan Diego was a poor Mexican farmer. One cold morning in 1531, he was walking to church when he heard beautiful music. He looked up and saw a lady — the Blessed Virgin Mary! She told Juan, 'I am the Virgin Mary. I want a church built here.' Juan went to the bishop, but the bishop didn't believe him. He asked for a sign. Mary told Juan to pick the roses growing in the snow and bring them in his cloak (called a 'tilma'). When Juan opened his cloak for the bishop — out tumbled the roses, and an image of Mary was on the cloak! It's called Our Lady of Guadalupe, and you can still see the real cloak in Mexico today!
