Saint Nicholas

Nicholas was a bishop in a place called Myra a long, long time ago. He loved God and loved the poor very much. Here's a famous story: there was a poor man with three daughters who had no money. Without money for dowries, they couldn't get married and might have had to become slaves. Nicholas threw three bags of gold through their window at night — one for each daughter — so their father found the gold and saved the girls! This is how Saint Nicholas became the giver of secret gifts. That's where the story of Santa Claus comes from — it's really about a bishop who loved Jesus and gave secretly to the poor!
