Saint Francis of Assisi

Francis was a rich young man in Italy who loved parties. One day Jesus spoke to him from a crucifix and said, 'Francis, rebuild my Church.' Francis gave up all his money and nice clothes to follow Jesus. He lived as a poor man and loved everyone — even the animals! Birds would land on his hands when he preached. He called the sun 'Brother Sun' and the moon 'Sister Moon.' Francis started the Franciscan Order — lots of monks who still try to live like him today.
