The Triumphal Entry
Matthew 21:1–11; John 12:12–19
Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey, and the crowds wave palm branches.
The Story
The Sunday before Passover, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey. Huge crowds came out to meet Him. They laid their cloaks and palm branches on the road and shouted, 'Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!' The prophets had foretold that Israel's king would come in just this way.
The Lesson
Jesus is King — but a different kind of King. His kingdom does not come by force; it comes by love, humility, and the Cross.
