Jonah and the Whale
Book of Jonah
A prophet runs from God and learns that God's mercy reaches everyone.
The Story
God told Jonah to preach to the wicked city of Nineveh. But Jonah didn't want to — so he boarded a ship going the opposite way. A terrible storm rose, and the sailors threw Jonah into the sea. A great fish swallowed him. For three days and nights, Jonah prayed from its belly. The fish spit him onto the shore. This time, Jonah obeyed. He preached in Nineveh — and the whole city repented.
The Lesson
You cannot run away from God. He always finds us — and He is always ready to forgive when we come back.
