Finding Jesus in the Temple
Luke 2:41–52
Twelve-year-old Jesus is found teaching the teachers in the Temple.
The Story
Every year, Mary and Joseph went to Jerusalem for Passover. When Jesus was twelve, they started home and realized after a day that He was missing. They hurried back and searched for three days. They finally found Him in the Temple, sitting with the teachers, asking questions and amazing them with His answers. Mary said, 'Son, why have you done this?' Jesus answered, 'Did you not know I must be in my Father's house?'
The Lesson
Jesus knew from a young age that God is His Father. Our true home is with God — and nothing is more important than being with Him.
