The Feeding of the Five Thousand

A great crowd — five thousand men plus women and children — had followed Jesus to a lonely place. Evening was coming and the people were hungry. A boy brought forward all he had: five loaves and two fish. Jesus took them, blessed them, broke them, and gave them to the apostles to distribute. Everyone ate as much as they wanted. Twelve baskets of leftovers remained.
