Biography
St. Thomas More (1478–1535) was a brilliant lawyer, author of Utopia, and Lord Chancellor of England. When Henry VIII broke with Rome over his divorce, More resigned rather than take the Oath of Supremacy. Imprisoned in the Tower of London for over a year, he was tried, convicted, and beheaded. On the scaffold he declared himself 'the King's good servant, but God's first.' Canonized in 1935.
