St. Louis de Montfort
Apostle of Marian Devotion
Feast Day: April 28
Biography
St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort (1673–1716) was a French priest and missionary whose writings on devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary have profoundly shaped Catholic spirituality. His masterwork, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, was lost for over a century before being discovered in 1842. It describes a method of consecrating oneself entirely to Jesus through Mary, arguing that Mary is the most perfect path to her Son. The book deeply influenced many saints and popes, including St. John Paul II, who took his papal motto 'Totus Tuus' (Totally Yours) from Montfort's writings. He founded the Company of Mary (Montfort Missionaries) and the Daughters of Wisdom.

Prayer
St. Louis de Montfort, you taught us that the surest path to Jesus is through Mary. Help me to entrust myself entirely to the Blessed Mother, that through her I may grow closer to her Son. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Asking for Intercession
Catholics ask saints to pray with us and for us, as we ask friends on earth. St. Louis de Montfort, who lives in God's presence, intercedes before His throne. Speak from your heart: “St. Louis de Montfort, please pray for me…” You may also pray the prayer above or include this intention in your Rosary.
