St. Josemaría Escrivá
Founder of Opus Dei
Feast Day: June 26
Biography
St. Josemaría Escrivá (1902–1975) was a Spanish priest who founded Opus Dei in 1928 after receiving a vision from God showing him that all people are called to holiness through their ordinary work and daily activities. His central teaching — that sanctification of work, sanctification through work, and sanctification of others through work is the universal call to holiness — anticipated the Second Vatican Council's emphasis on the lay apostolate by decades. His book 'The Way,' a collection of 999 spiritual maxims, has sold millions of copies. Opus Dei grew to include over 90,000 members in 90 countries. Canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002.

Prayer
St. Josemaría, you taught that every task can be a prayer. Help me to sanctify my work, to find God in the details of daily life, and to make every moment an offering of love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Asking for Intercession
Catholics ask saints to pray with us and for us, as we ask friends on earth. St. Josemaría Escrivá, who lives in God's presence, intercedes before His throne. Speak from your heart: “St. Josemaría Escrivá, please pray for me…” You may also pray the prayer above or include this intention in your Rosary.
