What happens
After the invitation 'Pray, brethren…' and the people's response ('May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands…'), the priest, with hands extended, says the Prayer over the Offerings. The people acclaim '.'
Why it happens
This prayer gives the Preparation of the Gifts its conclusion and disposes the faithful for the that is about to begin. The Church asks that the gifts, and with them the Church's offering of herself, be accepted by the Father.
