Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Anjezë Bojaxhiu was born in Albania in 1910. At eighteen she became a nun. She was sent to teach rich girls at a school in Calcutta, India. But one day on a train, she heard Jesus speaking in her heart: 'Come, be My light to the poorest of the poor.' She left the school and went to live in the slums of Calcutta. She found dying people in the streets that no one would touch — and she cared for them. Others joined her. She founded a new order called the Missionaries of Charity. They wear simple white saris with blue trim. They serve the poorest of the poor in every country in the world now. Mother Teresa traveled everywhere, cared for everyone, and prayed constantly. She said, 'Do small things with great love.' She won the Nobel Peace Prize but gave all the money to the poor. She died in 1997 and is now a saint!
